When I ran the Census, about a quarter of you of you said you train zero days a week. You answered a survey about fitness honestly instead of rounding up. That took something.
So this one is yours. Everybody else can skip it.
Restarts don't fail on effort. They fail because guys come back at the volume they left at, fifteen years ago. That's like getting back on a bike by entering a race. Two weeks later everything hurts, and the story becomes "I tried."
Here's the on-ramp. It is deliberately too easy.
Move 1: Body — Week one: two sessions, 15 minutes, nothing but your bodyweight.
Ten squats down to a chair. Five pushups, and hands on the kitchen counter counts. Ten rows with a milk jug or a dumbbell. Two rounds through. Done.
You should finish thinking that was nothing. That's the design. Week two: same session, three times, three rounds.
Move 2: Fuel — One anchored meal. Breakfast. Forty grams.
Eggs and Greek yogurt, or a shake if the morning is a sprint. That's the whole nutrition plan for the next two weeks. Nothing removed, nothing banned, one meal upgraded.
Move 3: Mind — Put it on the calendar with a name and a place.
Not "workout." Try "6:30 Tuesday, 15 minutes, garage." An intention with no slot is a wish. And one rule carries the whole thing: missing once is life, missing twice is a habit forming in the wrong direction.
The takeaway: The first two weeks aren't for results. They're for proof that you show up.
What's the lift you crushed in your 20s that you're scared to do now?
Forward this to the dad who's been saying "after the holidays" since 2019.
Best,
Jason
